he's also just gotten the hang of kissing for real-- he leans in, presses his lips against your cheek (or arm or leg or whatever) and says loudly, "mmmmahhhhh!" it is the sweetest thing, and we ask for kisses all day long.
also, i could swear that calvin says "mama" and knows what it means. at eight months? is that even possible?
