my mom used this old cookbook when we were growing up, and now i get to use it. here's a recipe  we've been loving.(i tweaked it a bit because it came out way too dry.)
the title irks me, by the way.

edit: the version below is not exactly from the book--it's my version.

corny banana oat bread
1 and 1/2 c mashed banana
1/4 c applesauce
1/4 c oil (coconut works nicely)
1/2 c honey or brown sugar
2 eggs
1 c whole wheat flour
1/2 c cornmeal
1/2 c oats (i think quick-cooking give the best consistency)
1/8 c wheat germ
1 t baking soda
1/4 c salt

cream oil and honey. add eggs one at a time. combine dry ingredients; add to honey mixture alternately with bananas. bake in greased 9x5x3 loaf pan at 350 for one hour, or until center tests done.

serve with tea and butter. mmm.
