my grandmothers have made beautiful baby blankets for both ransom and calvin. what a precious thing to have to pass on to their children--the handiwork of their great-grandmothers.
with the death of my dad's mom, i inherited many of my mamaw's knitting needles and the big yellow needle case she made. we also found several of her knitting/crocheting books, and one in particular had sweaters marked out for a few of us girls--sweaters my mamaw didn't have time to make before dying. i love seeing the picture of the one she'd planned to make for me. i hope to make it some day and wear it, always remembering her.
my mom's mom recently gave me several baby sweaters she found at the bottom of a cedar chest. these are sweaters she made back in the late 40's for her first child and they are beautiful.
(i was deeply offended when josh said that calvin resembled a teletubby in this sweater.)
my mom also gave me one of mamaw's old knitting books from the 50s and here is the project i'd like to start on:
too ambitious, i know. but so lovely.
