an evening in the woods

we went to the woods to inspect the enormous tree that fell directly on josh's trail.  the trail that took him weeks to blaze.

the tree is split down the trunk, so it seems it was struck by lightning.  not surprising, considering the ridiculous storms we've been having.  the tree took several other ones down with it.

and no, we didn't hear it fall.


then ransom wanted to go for a bike ride--

and play in the truck bed--

notice the camera focused on that unsettlingly large belly in the background instead of my beautiful child in the foreground.


then we took some pictures to try and chase away the hippopotamus feeling.
